I started skating when I was 6 years old and have been hooked ever since!

As a young adult, I started skating on a Competitive Synchro team. Again I was hooked! I loved the challenge of skating on a synchronized skating team and loved the traveling involved to go to competitions. I competed at Nationals every year in Senior, Junior and Adult categories. Upon moving to the lovely town of Fruitvale, BC I found myself loving the area but missing my sport... synchro skating. Since none of the skating clubs in the Kootenays have a synchro skating team, I decided to do some ice dance to keep my skills up. It turned out the club needed some coaching help and they asked me if I would like to get certified.

I decided to get my NCCP Level 1 coaching certificate. It has been very rewarding and I have enjoyed learning the coaching side of the sport. The best part of coaching is seeing the joy on a child's face when they "get it"! I love teaching skaters that love the sport as much as I do! I look forward to continuing to learn and enjoy my new career!

I began skating at the age of 5 and continued skating through to high school.

I loved the sport. I had amazing coaches that created a passion within me for the sport of skating. I began coaching while I was in university as a way to stay involved in the sport I was passionate about and earn a little tuition money along the way. I coached with local clubs, recreation departments and volunteered with the Special Olympics. After graduating and moving to the Kootenays from the east coast, I was fortunate to join the Beaver Valley Skating Club as a part time coach. Once again I was able to stay involved in the sport I loved.

It has been 27 years since I began coaching and it has been a wonderful experience. I love to work with the skaters and hope that I too can create a passion within them and help them to enjoy skating as much as I have.
I am a Primary StarSkate certified coach with Skate Canada.
